NEW! The Birthstone Capelet, shown here in the gorgeous Aquamarine Scraplet Skeins colorway, only looks complicated: The simple-to-master Feather-and-Fan stitch makes up the body (knit in 1 piece), then continues in the round into the ribbed neckband on a smaller needle.
About the yarns used: The sample shown here was made with 1 200-yd. Scraplet Skein; Knittique is no longer producing skeins in this size. You'll need to substitute 2 Knittique specialty skeins (Scraplet/Stranded/Signature Skeins), or your own yarns in an equivalent gauge (see below).
It also uses about 120 yds. of heavy worsted-weight yarn for the collar— this is a great way to use up leftover bits of yarn!
PLEASE NOTE: You are purchasing this pattern in PDF format, which requires Adobe Reader or another PDF reader. A link to download your pattern will be e-mailed to you when your purchase is complete.
You need to know how to: Cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, yarn over, knit 2 together, knit in the round, bind off.
Size: One size fits most. Finished size is about 14" long, and 54" around the lower edge. (Note: Since the neckband is not knitted until the body is complete, you can easily change the length; if you want your capelet to be longer, you may need additional yarn.)
Materials: 2 120-yd. Scraplet Skeins (or total of 200 yds.— see About the yarns used, above), approximately 120 yds. of coordinating yarn (for neckband). Optional: Rhinestone button for trim.
Needles: U.S. 13-15 and 7-9 24" circular needles; 1 stitch marker.
Gauge: This is approximate when using Scraplet skeins, since there are many weights and textures mixed together, but your gauge should average 9-10 stitches/4"/10cm in pattern stitch.
