Knittique's Garter-Stitch Pillow pattern includes instructions for a 14" square pillow; the top of the pillow is knit diagonally, and the overlapping back panels are knit straight. Options include adding the ruffled trim to the outer edge and using coordinating yarns (stash-buster!) for the back panels.
Bonus: The pattern also contains instructions for adding the optional ruffle-yarn trim (shown in pictures).

You need to know how to: Cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, increase (knit into front and back of stitch), decrease (knit 2 together), bind off, single crochet (trim only).
Materials: 1 120-yd. Scraplet Skein (find the Sapphire skeins here) made the diagonal top of the pillow plus one of the back panels; about 80 yards of coordinating yarn will be needed for the second panel. (Or just use the Scraplet Skein for the pillow top, and make both back panels with about 160 yards of contrast yarn.) The optional ruffled trim is made with 1 skein of Crystal Palace Yarn's "Tutu".
Needles: U.S. 9 needles. (This makes a fairly tight fabric, which is desirable in a pillow cover.)
Yarn substitution tip: If you'd rather use something besides Scraplet Skeins™, heavy worsted-weight self-striping yarns are a perfect choice; the gauge called for works with yarns such as Noro's "Kureyon" and "Silk Garden", or other yarns that work up fairly tightly on a U.S. 9 needle.
